The coastline of romantic Italy is lined by a string
of small towns and villages. Cinque Terre, a string of five fishing villages,
is the most iconic of them and must be included in your bucket list 2019, for
your upcoming travel ventures.
How to
reach?
The rough Italian coastline is a shelter to isolated
villages of Cinque Terre with its most spectacular appearance. There are many
modes of transport by which you can access the place. You can fly to Pisa
International Airport and once in Italy, the best way to move around is by
boarding trains. The Cinque Terre Express runs from station La Spezia and
Levanto and stops at all the five villages. But the most adventurous of the lot
is a ferry ride from La Spezia, Levanto, Portovenere and Lerici in the months
of March to October.
Travel
and Lodging Advice
The villages are all on a stretch of hilly zones so
walking is the one and the only option available. Be sure to be light on your
luggage as you might have to climb a lot of steps. The place is an absolute
paradise for a hiking trip in your bucket list.
Cinque Terre Town, Italy |
All the villages are close to each other and can be
travelled to by train. Since the most widely available are private home stays,
you might just start searching them up prior to your visit. Monterosso, the
largest of them all is divided between the old and new towns. It is the
flattest and has long sandy beaches. Vernazza is a perfect choice if you are
not the hob-nob loving person. Being the most picture perfect the location and
also windy, the place is best for a romantic getaway. Corniglia is the smallest
and tucked into the cliffs. This is the only village that doesn’t touch the sea
and takes a 350 step climb from the station to reach. Manarola and Riomaggiore
are also famous for their iconic coasts and colourful houses. There are lots of causes available to add Cinque Terre in your travel bucket list.
And
Food!
The place is creeping with good restaurants coupled
with breathtaking views if you just know where to look for. Way up at the top
of Manarola are lanes of the best Italian restaurants. If the 350 steps of
Corniglia doesn’t bother you then you would be greeted by a chain of
restaurants serving the best Italian platter. Monterosso is famous for its
anchovies.
List
of Popular To-do Things
As said earlier hiking is the most common sport among
visitors. But if that doesn’t thrill you enough then snorkelling or scuba
diving in the clear waters is also available. A boat tour to the nearby islands
is also possible but may be suspended due to rough seas. As the staple
profession of the place was wine making so vineyards too can be a popular choice
of the visit.
The true flavours of the Italian Riviera with its
collection of the famous five hotspots are amazing, and also beyond thrilling.
The place will surprise you in many breathtaking ways.
